Vivian’s Blog Post – Week 3: Product: Remembering at InsuredTY
Some early-stage projects here at InsuredTY, brand building, content creation, strategy, Social Media, and more!
In my third week at InsuredTY, I started some projects in Social Media Marketing, particularly on Instagram. I have light experience in Instagram, trying to grow engagement and also in content creation, so naturally, I was excited about these projects and getting started. We decided to start growing on Instagram first, before experimenting with other platforms like Facebook. Recognizing that we are trying to target the metropolitan areas of the East Coast mostly, I figured that my coworkers and I would have a pretty good reach over these neighborhoods, since many of our long-time friends and family are located in these geographic regions. Also noticing that we should grow engagement, we followed many Instagram accounts that are those of fellow insurance agents.
Some of the similar accounts that we’ve followed to try to gain traction on Instagram. These accounts are of related and similar industries as InsuredTY.
Regarding content creation, we finally solidified a proper color theme for our posts and I worked alongside Cynthia to curate and plan for content in the upcoming week.
We decided to not post everyday as this would cause existing followers to unfollow us and view our posts as spam, so we decided on a Monday / Wednesday / Friday posting schedule, or every other day, with the exception of weekends, since studies show that people are checking social media on weekdays more than on weekends. Studies also show that during COVID, people are more likely to be on social media, especially with quarantine. But all of this information is general to all data curated and not industry-specific. Therefore, we are deciding to stick to the common popular posting times and then later, assess which posts received the highest engagement, and adjust accordingly.
“Posting at 7:00 AM CDT from Wednesday to Friday generates some of the highest engagement — people usually check their phones right when they wake up.
Posting from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM CDT during the weekdays also generates a lot of engagement — people usually check their phones during lunch or when they start to run out of mental energy toward the end of the work day.
If you want to post on the weekends, post on Saturday around 10:00 AM CDT when people eat brunch or hang out with their friends.”
In terms of content, I worked on curating content for “Care Work”, which is another important aspect of InsuredTY, alongside “Remembering Work”. While “remembering work” is work that we know are not immediately important, yet are generally important, “care work” is just work that we, as individuals, care about, like taking care of our pets or calling our parents during holidays. Remembering work is vital to InsuredTY (and should be vital to all consumers) because it can creep up on us, so that’s why it’s important to constantly reflect and be aware so as to never let it get ahead. Here’s a sneak peek on the content I’ve worked on this week:
Some of the higher level goals for next week would be to work on caption/copy-writing for our Instagram posts on social media, and craft some call-to-actions to get more engagement with our core audiences. Speaking of CTAs, give InsuredTY a follow on Instagram and check out our socials to see the rest of the content we’ve been working hard to create!
