Google ads - status update

We can start with the good news that our Rockville Landing Page Campaign has started getting clicks! The fact that the ad has started getting reactions can likely be attributed to the expansion of the target location from Rockville proper to Maryland + Washington DC last week. The bad news is that these clicks are quite pricy due to the specificity of the target audience with an average CPC of $8.78. Compared to the CPC on our other campaign it is almost 10 times the price.

When looking at our search terms we see that we are still hitting a lot of searches related to Indian insurance companies. Google analytics also indicates that our website is getting a large amount of traffic from India. Since google ads still insists it is targeting the US, I will try and focus the campaign by excluding India and adding the search terms pointing to Indian companies to the negative keywords.

This morning I also set up google tags manager for our website to try and track conversions from our ads. The tag is set to detect clicks on the Family Landing Page which should give an initial indication of the users who take interest after landing on the page. Once we have data about conversions of this type, we can look into creating tags for more specific actions such as clicking on a specific button or form.
