YouTube Marketing [3 Key Points]

1) What is YouTube marketing? What is its purpose?

According to Backlinko YouTube marketing is the act of promoting a business, product or service by creating and publishing content on YouTube. YouTube presents a huge opportunity for marketers for several reasons. Firstly, the sheer amount of users. With 2 billion people logging in a month YouTube is the 2nd largest website in the world (second only to Google itself). Secondly, YouTube is owned by Google, therefore videos uploaded to YouTube get prime real estate in Google searches, improving SEO and searchability. Last but not least, the type of content on YouTube - video. Many people find video more engaging and emotionally compelling. It is not surprising that 70% of all the content on the internet is video. The purpose of marketing on YouTube can vary depending on your specific marketing goals. According to the stage in the buyer's journey you are focusing on with a particular video it should attract, delight and engage your audience.

2) How does YouTube build attraction and revenue?

YouTube creates attraction by being a very tangible form of content. You have the chance to add color, visuals and dynamicism to an otherwise flat and wordy brand. Once you have attracted the viewers there are two ways to create revenue. One is directly on YouTube either through ads, paid promotions or the new channel membership or tips. Another is off YouTube, by leading viewers to a landing page, a merchandise store or even into your brick and mortar shop. By generating more leads for your business you create the potential for increasing revenue.

3) What are the cons of YouTube Marketing?

It’s a big place. Some big brands have tried to make it on YouTube and failed. Any video you upload is one in a billion and it takes painstaking efforts to build a successful channel. Without the right mixture of creative and valuable content, good SEO, and network leveraging, you are unlikely to garner more than several hundred views at best. Timing is also key. The most successful youtubers upload content every day if not several times a day. When you upload can also affect how many of your subscribers watch the video. Basically, YouTube is a full time job. That doesn’t mean you should chuck your channel if you can’t maintain a schedule, just don’t expect too much from it.
