Vivian’s Blog #1: Internship Goals, Work Style, and Adding Value
I realize more and more that I work better with a Kanban board where I can visualize all my tasks, and see them come into fruition as I move them along the lists once I finish each task. I also find that I like to work more on a completion basis, where I would have a set due date to complete several tasks and work on my own time whenever I have time to finish the assigned tasks in the allotted time I’m given. I feel that this way, I can practice managing my own time and grow my organizational skills for my career in the future. It is also a way for me to not feel anxious over my timetable with my schoolwork. As long as I keep open communication with my teammates and coworkers, I think this method is best-suited for me and my working style.
My goals for this internship at InsuredTY was originally to get more into Digital Marketing and the nitty gritty of those aspects, but I realize that I shouldn’t close myself out to just one aspect. With the design project and tasks, I feel really fulfilled because I’m able to exercise some creative freedom similar to the type that I had in previous social media internships. I liked going through color schemes and checking out templates to have the opportunity to make an impact on the future of InsuredTY. This task makes me feel excited and it’s great to give me more experience as well in my portfolio.
I am a very spirited teammate, and I love having a good time and also supporting my coworkers so I think that I can add value in being a good team player and being a great listener to my teammates, which is especially important through remote work. Because of remote work, I’ve had more experience with practicing my listening skills and practicing my attentiveness, and I think that it’s only going to get better with my internship at InsuredTY. I’m super glad to have a team to count on at InsuredTY and I hope my team can count on me too as we work together longer. Let’s go team!
