Week #5: SDLC Testing Alyssa

What is SDLC?

The Software Development Life Cycle, or SDLC for short, is a methodology used by all employees at InsuredTY that help us create high quality software. This method is incredibly useful because it cuts high costs and saves time, while providing us with an efficient way to get our work done. The five steps this process includes is planning, requirements, design, doing, and testing.

By utilizing the site Trello, we are all able to visualize our weekly assignments through the SDLC. By creating a ticket for each task I need to complete, I can move my assignments based on my completion of them to different sections. This way, I am able to visualize my progress throughout the week and keep my work organized.

Planning: How do I plan my work?

At the beginning of each week, Tim Yang conducts a meeting with me in order to help me better organize my assignments. He will explain my tasks, which frequently involve research, and frequently illustrates how I should organize my findings.

Requirements: Why is gathering requirements important?

The second step in the life cycle is gathering requirements. This step is the foundation to your work as a whole. If you know the task you need to complete and which materials you will use to do so, you can produce great work. Throughout my weekly research, Tim Yang provides me with sources that I should and should not be focusing on. This helps me complete my research in a proper way.

Design: What design steps do I take?

My blogs follow a design format that is set out for me by Tim Yang. My research is usually formatted as formal papers or organized charts.

Doing: How do I work effectively?

I work effectively by asking any questions that I have before beginning my task. After my questions are clarified, I follow the guidelines set forth at Insured TY, and am able to fully focus on my assignment.

Testing. The most important part. What skills do I need to grow to test and publish professional-grade work?

In order to publish professional-grade work, the most important skill needed is the ability to properly proof read. Every article or blog that is published on InsuredTY’s website is proof read numerous times. This is incredibly important because work published with any error shows unprofessionalism. I take time out of my day to proof read any assignment that I complete, as well as any blog or article I post.
