Internship 101: What I learned about working professionally this summer
How is working similar to school? How is it different?
Working is similar to school ever since we transitioned to remote learning. Classes are on zoom and the majority of our tasks are done virtually. It is different because, on campus, we have the opportunities to make new friends and join clubs. However, work is with the same people and there’s a very low chance of meeting someone new unless they’re newly hired.
What communication skills did you develop?
Some communications skills I developed were messaging people outside of my comfort zone and making phone calls to Asian parents which also improved my Chinese.
What can you improve in the future to continue pursuing a successful career?
I need to improve my time management and speaking to others outside of my comfort zone.
